hezekiah's tunnel.

Today we had the City of David field trip! It was lots of fun. It was a half day trip. We walked there cause it was very close.

We got there and watched a 15 minute video, it was very cool. It was in 3D and talk about how jerusalem started with the City of David and that the Jews were here first.
We looked at the excavations that surround the Gihon Water system. The Gihon spring was the main water source of the Holy City.
We walked through Hezekiah's Tunnel and it was so great. It is about 6 football fields long, it took us about 30 minutes to get through. It was amazing. It was pretty narrow. The first part the water went passed our knees but the rest of the time it was just above our ankles. We had to wear head lamps because it was very dark. We walked a little with no light and it was very cool. At the end of the tunnel is the Siloam inscription which records the construction of the tunnel in the 8th century BCE and is among the oldest extant records of its kind written in Hebrew. I want to do it again. It is pretty cheap with our cards. The tunnel was dug underground in the City of David. They dug it so no one could get to their water. It must have taken a lot of work to make it. It leads from the Gihon Spring to the Pool of Siloam.

The pool of Siloam is where Christ cured blind man so we know for sure that he walked there.
This is a palace of some lady that they found recently. It was underneath a parking garage, I thought this was pretty cool. There were lots of workers working there.
