conference weekend

So conference weekend was a couple weekends ago but I want to write about it. I love love general conference. This was my first conference not as a missionary. I went down to Utah with Abby from my mission. It was lots of fun.

Friday night we went to inn n out and went to my first mission reunion! weird weird weird but so fun. It was so good seeing everyone and of course seeing the sweeney's! President almost made me cry.

Saturday I stayed the night before with Brittany and Brian. I spent pretty much all saturday with them. Brittany made yummy conference food and I got to snuggle with Henry. We then went to the canyon and I took there family pictures. It was so beautiful. We then went to blue lemon for dinner. I then met up with ellie at baked bear. They have really yummy ice cream sandwiches. We then went to the johnstons and it was so good seeing them! We then went to provo and I stayed the night at ellie's. We had bonding time.

Sunday I woke up really early to go to conference. I went with Abby. It was wonderful. I love going to conference and walking on temple square. We then needed lunch so we went to the mellow mushroom and had the bessstttt pizza. We then made a quick stop at east high for a high school musical pic. Then we drove home.

I loved all of conference. It's hard to pick a favorite talk. Here are some of my notes that touched me. And they aren't all perfectly quoted just so you know.

- being righteous doesn't mean being perfect or never making mistakes but it means building an inner connection with God, repenting and helping others
- change selfishness into service
- worth and worthiness are not the same
- comparison is the thief of joy
- you have the same spiritual DNA as God
- The commitment to follow Him is up to you
- unless we lose ourselves in the service of other, we have little purpose to our lives
- the family proclamation defines the nature of family relationships
- focus on your spiritual gifts
- make use of adversity
- because the sacrament is broken and town, each piece of bread is unique, just as the individuals who partake of it
- service is the very fiber of which an exalted life in the celestial kingdom is made
- take time for holiness
- strive for steady improvement, don't obsess over toxic perfectionism
- don't let life's distractions eclipse heaven's light
- repentance both puts us on the right path and keeps us on the right path
- treasure His involvement, Heavenly Father can put us in situations with specific intent in mind
- immersing ourselves regularly in the truths of the book of mormon can be a life changing experience
- God is not only concerned about our comfort but more about our progress
- do we have the faith not to be healed?
- ordinances that are received worthily and remembered open the heavenly channels through which the power of godliness can flow into our lives
- we don't have control of our trials but we do have control over our response to it
- to look beyond what we see, we must look with the eyes of the Savior
- the lord goes before your face whenever you are on His errand
- stay on the gospel path by having faith in every footstep
- God's fingerprints are all over the Book of Mormon
- our words about our fellow beings should reflect our belief in Jesus Christ and His atonement
- hard makes us stronger, humbles us and gives us a change to prove ourselves
- do we have the faith to trust Him?
- the greater the light in our lives, the fewer the shadows
- as we study from the best books, we protect ourselves against the menacing jaws of those that seek to gnaw at our spiritual roots
- love without service is like faith without works, it's dead indeed
- there is a treasure chest of heavenly direction awaiting your discovery in the messages of general conference
